Deenga

Genre : Alternative Rock

Language : Bengali

Deenga the folk quintet from Kolkata have catapulted to fame recently. DEENGA is involved with all kinds of Music, be it Folk, Rock, Hip-Hop, Reggae or Latin, You NAME it, they PLAY it!

Their Motto is “TOTAL ENTERTAINMENT FOR THE MASSES”!

They are inspired by contemporary folk like Bhatali, Chatka, Jhumur, etc. and are also playing hard rock too! Their immense talent and varied musical background makes this difficult task easy!

After years of individually playing and researching in different bands, all the 6 members of DEENGA have come out with the theory that Music is something that has to be felt from within and then make it vibe with the crowd because the audience is the ‘Ultimate Judge’!

As far as DEENGA’s fan-following or crowd-pulling is concerned, it would be at par with the best bands of Bengali!

Their journey till date could be summed up as a ‘Dream Voyage’! Their debut show was telecast live on ATN Kolkata and from then on began their unstoppable & glamorous journey. They went on to play at prestigious events like the ‘Airtel Anandotsav’, ‘Sharod Shamman Purashkar’. etc. They even shared stage with popular stars like Udit narayan, Anuradha Paudwal, Vinod Rathod and others. They were profoundly felicitated at college gigs. They have performed repeatedly for many esteemed and popular TV channels viz. Tara Bangla, Etv. Bangla, ATN Kolkata, Alpha Bangla, etc. and even composing the Children’s Day Special song for the said channel and Sahara Samay TV Channel and the videos are available on You Tube as well.

They have also appeared in 6 episodes of the popular Bengali Game show “Hau Mau Khau” on Zee Bangla Channel. They have also undertaken a series of 9 corporate shows for Airtel.

Off late, in the backdrop of the World Cup, they have produced a non-commercial music video that spreads the message for World Peace through the game.

They have also been featured in many reputed dailies like Hindustan Times, Bartaman, Ajkal, Pratidin and in the Times of India.

Deenga has the privileged of performing in the fests of well known colleges like ‘Scotish Church College’, ‘Bangabhasi College’ ‘Jogesh Chandra College’, ‘North City College’, ‘Government College for Women (Durgapur)’ ‘Michel Madhusudan College (Durgapur)’, Khudiram College’ and ‘Ayurvedic College’ etc. etc.

Deenga had a smashing performance at ‘Presidency College’ fest (Ispat 2008) Deenga had socking performance at ‘Hindu Hostel’ annual fest ‘Taki Hogh School’ and also had marvelous performance consequently at ‘Amtala Book Fair 2008’ and Amtala Book Fair 2009’.

Deenga's originality is not a deliberate cynical fact it is he result of their willingness to consider any folk element as a viable element.
One of the reasons why Deenga are so inseparably tight-other than sheer determination and hard work is the fact that it lies in the like mindedness of the members in the field of music.

Deenga was assembled by the following:-
RAHUL - Bass
INDRAJIT - Drums
BABLU - Key's
SAUMIK - Vocal,
RANJAN & NEEL - Guitar
GAURAV - Audio Visual Manager.

2004 Deenga released its first album was an ambitious venture, which succeeded in taking the band out of their rehearsal pad and thrust them into the bigger arena of music - AND THE JOURNEY CONTINUES...............
