Gandhaar Sangoram

Genre : Alternative Pop

Language : Hindi

Gandhaar wanted to be a composer since his childhood. He used to play the harmonium with ease in school, without having any formal training in music. He was, like all other musicians of his generation, overawed by AR Rahman. He has been working professionally as a composer and arranger for more than 5 years now. He has composed music for many Commercial and Experimental Plays, along with a dozen odd Short Films and a handful of jingles.

He used to listen to Kumar Gandharva at a time when he could not even speak. He had made up his mind to be a Music Composer at a very young age. When other kids of his age were busy making paper planes, he listened to stalwarts like Pt.Kumar Gandharva, Pt.Bhimsen Joshi, Pt.Kishori Amonkar, just to name a few. His grandfather Late Dr.Shrirang Sangoram being a very immaculate music critic, he unknowingly gained a lot through him at a tender age. His father being a huge music connoisseur, it helped him develop a taste for good music.

He idolized AR Rahman since he was very small. He composed his first tune when he was only 12. The tune was later used for a Short Film which went on to be screened at many International Film Festivals. He has had formal training in the sitar for 3 years from Pt.Shekhar Ranade in Pune. Having a good base of classical music, it has helped him to give out compositions which will click equally amongst the masses and the classes as well. The lyrics for most of his songs are written by his close friend Rohit Nikam. His album Aashayien alongwith singer Saavani Ravindra, which was mixed and mastered at YRF Studios, was released last year.
