“Like most people I know (and that probably includes you reading this!), I don’t think I really understand why I am here or what my maqsad in life is!” says Chin2.
Post his graduation, he did his MBA and then (hold your breath!) - worked in an Event Management company, in an Advertising Agency, been a Radio Jockey, done professional theatre as an Actor and a Director, been a Video Jockey, done Music Direction for films, composed Background Scores, acted in a Bollywood feature film, given Voice Overs and Character Voicings for various brands, done the occasional modeling assignment, appeared on a variety of TV serials/ shows as a celebrity guest, done playback singing, launched India’s largest networked radio station (Big FM) as Mumbai’s Programming Head, launched 4 music albums as a member of India’s first and only boy band, ‘A Band of Boys’ and has launched his solo album with grandmom Asha Bhosle (which incidentally has been comfortable nestled in the Top 10 Indipop Charts for over 8 weeks and has won him the ‘Best Album of the Year’ Award!)
And while he’s thoroughly enjoyed doing all of the above (and been fairly successful at it!) he always maintains that every composition of his has a part of him in it - his attitude, his frustrations, his spirit, his happiness, his travels, his loneliness, his truth, his confusions and his experiences!
“To set the record straight”, he quips “the songs have not just been sung by me but also written and performed by me! I have composed, arranged, produced and played most of the guitar bits in all my songs. Every note, every instrument, every phrase, it’s there for a reason and I know why! So in case you think I had someone do it all while I sat back and had coffee, not true! My music has wholly and soul’ly been made by me with a lot of help and inspiration from my family and friends and that’s what makes it even more special! It’s not a commercial venture but a culmination of great belief and awesome energy . . . Which always brings about this overwhelming realization - without my friends and family I am nothing!”
